About Under Water

Vestibule, the impressive debut EP by Under Water, is a smartly written collection of eight catchy, original songs. The album is defined by the raw quality of the recordings – rich, unabashed vocals layered with the angelic orchestration of ukuleles and autoharps. A sonic breeze, Vestibule is the perfect accompaniment to a sunset bonfire, blending imagery and music to create something new, unique and lasting.

Under Water is the solo project by singer/songwriter Erin Hickman. Erin has been performing since the age of 12, and went on to write and record a piano-based EP when she was 17. She has since landed in Los Angeles, and is not only composing Under Water originals, but is also collaborating with a number of independent artists, in various genres of music.

Under Water performs regularly in Los Angeles and is currently recording her second EP, set for Summer 2011.

The Live Band!

Steven Sims-Percussion

Steven has been banging on drums since his early hay days back east. From pots and pans to snares and tambourines, percussion has been his one true love since childhood. When he's not playing with Under Water he's usually entertaining the LA scene with jokes, funny dances and his slick personality. As co-founder of Los Angeles based production company, Phalco Films, Steven spends most of his time as a writer, director and actor. When he's not doing that he's usually in search for the center of the universe. For more on the Triple S Threat (Sexy Steve Sims) check out twitter.com/FranciscoSims.

Lee Butcher-Guitar

Playing guitar recreationally in his teens, it wasn't until he moved from Virginia to Los Angeles for screenwriting that Lee fell in love with the art of songwriting. Lee joined the group that later would be the hard rock band OBLIQUE and cut his teeth in the Los Angeles music scene playing venues such as the Whisky A-Go-Go and The Viper Room. After the band decided to go their separate ways, Lee went into the studio and began recording his debut album All in Good Time. Ranging from the folk duet "The Acrobat", to the rock ballad "Brook Lang", the Doors influenced "Hey", to the ethereal sounds of "Hope," All in Good Time showcases the diversity of Lee's writing skills while retaining a unified sound. With influences as broad as Tool, Robert Plant & Allison Krauss, and Muddy Waters, Lee combines the dark and soulful into his own style of alternative rock.
